3A Toys x Bravest Warriors by john cheng

I don't even know where to start. I've been following WO3A for quite some time and hope to own a toy of theirs in the near future. I haven't made a purchase yet mostly because I don't have the funds to buy one of their amazing toys.

It is definitely getting way more difficult especially with the new release of the Bravest Warriors toys. I mean, just look at them! Beautifully made! You can pre-order them at Bambalandstore May 21st, mark your calendars!

Great short interview of Sucklord in his studio by Joey Garfield. I love how Sucklord finishes a thought and immediately continues to sand whatever he's working on.

Chris Peterson Custom Spin Tops by john cheng

Tops Tops Tops! I have been perusing the internets to find some more everyday carry tops to purchase and discovered Chris Peterson's custom made tops. I'll probably be purchasing a few from him unless someone out there would like to buy a few for me, no objections here!

NHK ~ Japanology: Spinning Tops by john cheng

I love spinning tops! I played with them when I was little and still do, although I do still hold a slight fear of tops when throwing them because of one incident of having the top whip back at me and giving me a fat lip. Despite that, I still love tops.

Spinning tops have been a part of many different cultures but recently I found a video on youtube called Japanology that delves deep into the cultural significance of tops in Japan.

(NHK) ~ Begin Japanology invites you into the world of Japanese culture, both traditional and modern, explaining how traditions evolved and the part they still play today in people's everyday lives.

EDC Tops by john cheng

Ever since I was little, I've loved spinning toys. I played with tiny spin tops, larger trompo throw tops, gyroscopes and etc. There was something very captivating in watching something spin and seemingly float across the table.

Anthony Lawson has created a spin top that has captured my interest. His tops are manually machined solid brass & stainless steel with a ceramic ball tip to increase the spin time. Be sure to back his campaign if you want one of these bad boys, there are only 16 days left!

Not only are these tops amazing, but his shop is amazing too! Lawson has a set of spinning top cufflinks that I seriously want to own, the only problem is that I don't own any shirts that require cufflinks. Bummer!

Kazuya Murata by john cheng

I bought a yoyo from C3yoyoDesigns about a year ago to fool around with and relive my younger years in middle school with i played with fireball yo yos. I was able to pick up a few tricks, but I'm definitely not as coordinated as I used to be trying to keep track of a spinning aluminum piece while not getting in the way of the string.

Kazuya Murata, Yoyo baby, makes playing with yoyos look easy. Watch him go!

The Beast is Back by john cheng

At the last Designer Con, I visited Christopher Lee's booth, I mean why wouldn't you visit his booth? He's got amazing work! Among the amazing illustrations of his he had a preview of his Freeman Robotics U-23 Resin Figure that was soon to go into production. Since then, the editions are now complete and will be up for sale on his site soon on 3/14/14 at 10am PST. These will disappear like hotcakes!
